A Study has been prepared with the co-operation of domestic and international experts, being one of the most important documents of Metro 4 investments. This Feasibility Study prepared in compliance with international standards has analysed in detail the transport condition of the South Buda region - and, in this relation, of Budapest - as well as the possibilities of solutions necessary to resolve problems. It was investigated what public transport and traffic organisation tools can be considered, and what are their expected costs. Both surface and underground solutions were studied. Nearly a dozen versions of alignment were examined and the version comprising 10 stations between Keleti pu. and Kelenfldi pu. was selected among these versions. (A modification based on the decision of the Capital City's Municipality was accepted: one station has been moved from Kosztolányi Dezső tér to Bocskai út.)

Final conclusion of the Study was that Metro 4 has no alternative: it can offer the best solution to the South-Buda region and the whole Capital City both in transport and urban political or financial respects.
