As a part of the 2002 reconstruction project of Bartók Béla út, Móricz Zsigmond körtér was also renovated. The project included the reconstruction of aged public utilities as well as the change of used up tramline and road pavement. A subway was built under the square. The square and the new subway were constructed so that they can be properly adjusted to the future facilities of Metro4.

The reconstruction brought a significant change in the aspect of the square. The area of green space grew nearly by four times. The road function reduced, while the space available for pedestrians has increased. The local residents can enjoy a clearer and friendlier square than before.

The metro station will be located in the southern part of the square, providing easy access to all surface public transport vehicles.
