In mid-January, the south TBM, the north at the end of January arrived at the Rákóczi square station, then began an ever more comprehensive maintenance and preparation. On the Pest side the existing sections have been built in record speed, and a similar rate of progress is planned by the tunnel builder BAMCO for the remaining two, 450 meters long sections, with calculating the two week preparation time at the Népszínház street station.

The experts do not expect major difficulties, although at the Keleti Railway Station the TBM will leave the clay soil. In some places gravel layer will be present in the last 150 meters, which requires special preparatory work and will require greater attention. If everything will go as planned and BAMCO will be able to keep the schedule, at the second half of June the south TBM will reach the first section’s temporary, Keleti Railway station terminus.
