SMOKE TESTS BEGIN ON TUESDAY AT THE RÁKÓCZI TÉR STATION OF METROLINE M4

The fit-out of the station at Rákóczi tér on Metroline M4 will soon be completed, and thus a three-day smoke test will be put up by the contractor as of 16 April 2013. The smoke test involves the emission of a large quantity, c. 20 cubic metres, of white, non-toxic gas, i.e. one non-detrimental to health, starting from platform level and reaching up to the surface.

THE CONCEPT DESIGN TENDER FOR THE INTERNATIONAL JUNCTION AT THE ŐRMEZŐ TERMINUS OF M4 COMPLETED

A major, common project of Budapest Municipality, BKK and DBR Metro Project Directorate has come to a new milestone: We announced the results of the concept design tender for the surface reinstatement and bus terminal at the Őrmező exit of the Kelenföldi pályaudvar station of the M4 on 8 April 2013.

THE M4 METRO SEEN FROM A WHEELCHAIR

The Esélyegyenlőségi Magazin (Equal Opportunity Magazine) visited the almost complete Tétényi út Station on Wednesday, and inspected the lifts, escalators, the tactile indicators, and the special information equipment. The report by the magazine is published as follows.

TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS IN THE KELETI RAILWAY STATION AREA

On 4 April 2013, the main entrance of Keleti Railway Station was closed down and is expected to remain shut until August this year. One of the branches of the subway stairway in front of it coming up to the surface has also been closed. The other branch of the stairway was closed down on the next day, 5 April, at 10:00 a.m. Thus the station can only be entered from the sides, either from Kerepesi út or Thököly út. Due to the construction works, the pavement in front of the main entrance is closed, and pedestrians will have to use the bus stop area, and we will therefore move the bus stop of the No. 5 and no. 7 group of buses closer to the Thököly út entrance.

TENS OF THOUSANDS INTERESTED IN THE OPEN DAY OF EU DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

Occasioned by the European Year of Citizens 2013, the National Development Agency started its programme “Open Day of European Union Development Projects – Walk behind the Scenes” to show the many ways membership in the European Union contributes to the betterment of the life conditions of Hungarians. The nation-wide event series was inaugurated by the Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Development, Nándor Csepreghy, István Simicskó, Member of Parliament and Secretary of State for Sports at the Ministry of Human Resources and Dr. Balázs Szeneczey, Deputy Mayor of Budapest responsible for urban development, and attracted tens of thousands of people throughout the country. The M4 Project also joined the initiative: some 800 registered visitors saw the almost fully completed Tétényi út station under the professional guidance of BKK and BKV staff in the framework of the Open Day.

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ŐRMEZŐ EXIT OF METRO LINE 4 HAS BEGUN

With the temporary diversion of utilities, the Őrmező exit of the Kelenföldi pályaudvar station of Metro Line 4 and the reconstruction of a section of Péterhegyi road have commenced. The primary objective of these works is to provide direct connection between Őrmező and the new metro line, but the contractual scope of the contractor includes tasks that can accelerate the work of the winner of the Őrmező architectural concept design tender currently under way. According to the contract, the 3-billion forint investment is to be completed within a year; completion by that deadline is a precondition of starting the Test in Traffic Operation planned for the first half of 2014.

THE MANAGEMENT OF THE AMSTERDAM METRO LINE CONSTRUCTION VISITED BUDAPEST

The Project Director of Amsterdam Metro Line Noord/Zuid currently being constructed and two of his colleagues came to Budapest and heard presentations and visited the M4 Project worksite on 18 February 2013. The Dutch delegation visited the Hungarian capital on the invitation of the Mayor’s Office in the framework of the cooperation agreement between Amsterdam and Budapest.

ALSTOM HAS OBTAINED THE TYPE LICENCE FOR THE M4 VEHICLES

Alstom Transport has obtained the type licence for the vehicles manufactured for Metro Line 4 from the National Transport Authority. In the possession of the licence, Alstom will now be able to start the continuous delivery of the serially manufactured trains in Budapest. Alstom Transport has manufactured two prototype vehicles already, one of which has the final design, having no temporary driver’s cabin with a view to the automatic mode of operation.

OPEN DAY AT THE TÉTÉNYI ÚT STATION OF METRO LINE 4

The M4 Project has joined the initiative of the National Development Agency entitled “Open Day of EU Development Projects”. In the framework of the event, the almost complete Tétényi út Station will be opened to the public at large.

THE DURATION TEST OF THE NEW METRO TRAIN HAVE COMMENCED ON METRO LINE 4

The duration tests of the prototype of the METROPOLIS trains to be manufactured for Metro Line 4 have begun on the section of the new metro line between Kelenföldi pályaudvar and Móricz Zsigmond körtér, which was completed and tested in November last year. Following the successful tests conducted last week, the actual duration tests could commence in order that Alstom obtain the final type licence for the vehicle by the February 2013 deadline it undertook, and to prove the new vehicle will reliably operate on the new metro line in accordance with the requirements laid down by the National Transport Authority.
