Budafoki Road is open again

30 october 2007

The original traffic conditions were restored on Budafoki Road on 26 October 2007 after completion of the work for discharging the public utility lines at the Szent Gellért Station.

The road section between Szent Gellért Square and Csiki Street is available again for two-way traffic.
The road had been narrowed since 25 September to allow the completion of public utility installation work as part of the Szent Gellért Square Station construction. This installation work included the relocation of water and gas pipes and electric power cables. The public services (water, gas, and electric power supplies, etc.) have been available in the neighbouring houses during the work.

The work, requiring road narrowing, was completed sooner than the 5 week period specified in the work schedule. New public utility lines were installed and the affected road sections were returned to service in renewed condition.

It is scheduled that the Upper Quay (Műegyetem Quay with single-single lane) will be opened for the traffic in late November.

The scheduled completion date for the station construction is August 2009. Currently, the soil excavation work and the construction of the interstage floor structures are in progress.

The Metropolitan Municipality, BKV Ltd (Budapest Transport Limited) and the professionals of the construction companies do their best to reduce the inconveniences accompanying the construction work to the minimum.
