THE ÚJBUDA-KÖZPONT STATION OF METRO LINE M4 RECEIVES ITS COMPLETION CERTIFICATE

12 november 2013

Újbuda-központ station of metro line M4 receives its completion certificate from the National Transport Authority. Following Bikás park (Tétényi út) station, this is the second station of the new metro line that meets the conditions of starting the Test in Traffic Operation at the end of March 2014.

As is well-known, Budapest Mayor István Tarlós initiated at the competent government authorities this summer that the permission procedures, particularly the completion certificate procedure, of Metro Line M4 should be accelerated in order to be able to complete the Project on time. In order to foster this, the government appointed Dr. Imre Pesti, the head of the Government Office of Budapest, to coordinate the permission procedures of the various authorities. As a result of the cooperation of the Government Commissioner and the Mayor, the National Transport Authority issued the completion certificate for Bikás park (Tétényi út) in the second half of October this year.

The Újbuda-központ station of the new metro line is at the junction of Fehérvári út, Bocskai út and Október huszonharmadika utca, where several tram lines also run. The platform level of the station is relatively shallow, only 13 metres deep, from where four escalators and two lifts carry passengers. The subway of the new station is directly connected to the subway system of the junction, which was completed earlier on. Apart from fair-face concrete and metal surfaces, water-like glass surfaces dominate the station. A special fused-glass wall separates the commercial area from the operational areas at the end of the platform. The station is well-lit, and water is its central motif everywhere, from the station furniture to the hanging ceiling.
