THE RÁKÓCZI TÉR STATION OF METRO LINE M4 RECEIVES ITS COMPLETION CERTIFICATE

6 december 2013

The Rákóczi tér station of metro line M4 is now the fourth station to have received its completion certificate from the National Transport Authority. Apart from the completion of on-going construction works and white tests, obtaining the necessary permits for the new metro line is a precondition of starting the Test in Traffic Operation of Metro Line M4 at the end of March, the deadline undertaken.

The Rákóczi tér station of Metro Line M4 is under the area between the Market Hall in Rákóczi tér and the Ring. Its internal shape has been likened to a theatre: the galleries of the internal space of the station bear the names of the estates that Ferenc Rákóczi II owned, after whom the station is named. Like Szent Gellért tér and Fővám tér stations, the Rákóczi tér station is characterized by a large internal space, which opens into platform tunnels in the direction of the Ring. The colouring of the surfaces of the station follows the red-white-and-green of the Hungarian banner. The platform level of the station is 22 metres deep, with 4 sets of escalators and 2 lifts leading to the gallery and then the surface levels. The escalators land on the side of the square near the nos. 4 and 6 trams, while the accessible lifts fall on the side of the square near the Market Hall.

Between the plane trees preserved during the construction and the newly planted ones, new benches were placed, and the inner city atmosphere will be made more pleasing by a pool. The speciality of the station is that natural light is directed from the park down to the platform level through glass tubes and special mirrors. Particular mirrors have also been affixed between the concrete discs of the ceiling of the station, which will scatter light into the station from spotlights directed at them. An underground garage was also built next to the metro station in a project run together with the Market Hall, which has operated since the beginning of the year under BKK as operator.
