THE MANAGEMENT OF THE AMSTERDAM METRO LINE CONSTRUCTION VISITED BUDAPEST

21 february 2013

The Project Director of Amsterdam Metro Line Noord/Zuid currently being constructed and two of his colleagues came to Budapest and heard presentations and visited the M4 Project worksite on 18 February 2013. The Dutch delegation visited the Hungarian capital on the invitation of the Mayor’s Office in the framework of the cooperation agreement between Amsterdam and Budapest.

The members of the delegation, Project Director Peter Dijk, Project Manager Benno Stoiber and Communications Chief Alex Sheerazi, were received by the CEO of Budapest Transport Centre (BKK), Dávid Vitézy, who made a presentation for them on the public transport of Budapest, the duties and organization of BKK, and the reorganization of Budapest transport institutions. The project director and his colleagues expressed their appreciation for the establishment of BKK, the institutional reorganization and the new transport projects beginning as of 2010.

As guests of Project Director Dr. Piroska Horváth, the Dutch delegation got acquainted with the M4 Project, its antecedents, technical progress, its difficulties, and then went for a guided visit of Fővám tér and Szent Gellért tér stations and the depot of the new line at Kelenföld.

Following the exchange of experiences, the participants concluded that the Metro Line 4 project begun in 2006 and the Amsterdam North-South Metro Line construction begun in 2002 have a number of similarities, the builders facing similar technical, legal and contractual difficulties. The participants found the exchange extremely useful, and hope to continue the cooperation in the future.
