TARLÓS: THE TEST IN TRAFFIC OPERATION OF M4 CAN BEGIN NEXT SPRING

The Test in Traffic Operation of Metro Line M4 can begin in spring 2014, said Mayor István Tarlós at a press conference held at the Kálvin tér station of the new metro. The Mayor, together with members of the press, as well as the leaders of BKK and BKV, took a ride on the train along the entire, 7.5 km long line in the tunnel from Kelenföld Railway Station to Keleti Railway Station. This was the first time the Alstom trains carried passengers along the entire length of the metro line.

SMOKE TESTING CONTINUES ON METRO LINE M4

As of Tuesday, fire simulations will take place at the Metro Line 4 station at Keleti Railway Station.

The completion of the interior fit-out of the M4 station at Keleti Railway Station has reached the level enabling the contractor to carry out the usual smoke tests required by the authority in charge as of Tuesday, 2 July 2013. The smoke test involves the emission of a large quantity, c. 20 cubic metres, of white, non-toxic gas, i.e. one non-detrimental to health, starting from platform level and reaching up to the surface.

SMOKE TESTS BEGIN ON TUESDAY AT THE II. JÁNOS PÁL PÁPA TÉR STATION OF METROLINE M4

The level of completion of the interior fit-out of the M4 station at II. János Pál pápa tér has reached the level enabling the contractor to carry out the usual smoke tests required by the authority in charge as of Tuesday, 18 June 2013. The smoke test involves the emission of a large quantity, c. 20 cubic metres, of white, non-toxic gas, i.e. one non-detrimental to health, starting from platform level and reaching up to the surface.

OPEN DAY OF EU DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS SUCCESSFUL AGAIN

Over ten thousand visitors turned up at the spectacular sites of cultural, transport, recreational, industrial or even scientific development projects implemented in the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan. The programme entitled “Open Day of EU Development Projects – Walk Behind the Scenes” was put up in over 60 points of the country for a second time this year on Saturday. The most popular visiting site in Budapest was the Kálvin tér station of Metro Line 4: some 400 visitors could descend 25 meters below the surface, and, under professional guidance, acquaint themselves with the major parameters and methods of the construction of the metro station; moreover, the more enterprising ones could peer into the tunnels of the new metro.

THE SURFACE REINSTATEMENT OF FŐVÁM TÉR AND KÁLVIN TÉR COMPLETE: THE NO. 83 TROLLEY TO RUN AGAIN ALONG ITS ORIGINAL ROUTE FROM SATURDAY

The surface reinstatement of the Fővám tér and Kálvin tér related to the M4 Project has been completed. Following technical handover, both squares in their entirety – except the metro exits – are returned to pedestrians as of Friday. The completion of the works, the road building and the construction of the catenary, has made it possible for the no. 83 trolley to run along its original route as of Saturday, 1 June 2013.

SMOKE TESTS BEGIN ON TUESDAY AT THE KÁLVIN TÉR STATION OF METROLINE M4

The fit-out of the station at Kálvin tér on Metroline M4 will soon be completed, and thus a three-day smoke test will be put up by the contractor as of Tuesday, 21 May 2013. The smoke test involves the emission of a large quantity, c. 20 cubic metres, of white, non-toxic gas, i.e. one non-detrimental to health, starting from platform level and reaching up to the surface.

TRAFFIC CHANGES AT BAROSS TÉR (KELETI RAILWAY STATION)

As of Saturday 11 May 2013, bus traffic heading towards the city centre is changing in Baross tér, and the stops of the No. 7 group of buses are also being shifted. Road traffic from Kerepesi út towards the city centre is also changing.

BUDAPEST MUNICIPALITY AND SIEMENS SIGN AGREEMENT

The amendment of the Siemens contract was concluded in the presence of István Tarlós and Dr. Jürgen Brandes. Closing several years of negotiations between Budapest Municipality and Siemens Zrt, the document was signed by BKV CEO Tibor Bolla and Dale A. Martin, the President and CEO of Siemens Hungary.

THE REINSTATEMENT OF MÓRICZ ZSIGMOND KÖRTÉR CONTINUES

The surface reinstatement at the Móricz Zsigmond körtér (circus) station of Metro Line M4 has come to a new phase: the replacement of the pavement. According to plans, this phase will be completed during the summer, the renewal of the entire circus will be finished at the end of the year. In contrast to earlier plans, the new concept prioritizes public transport, pedestrians and cyclists, thus a new quarter hub with decreased traffic will come into being in the heart of the district in the coming months.
