THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FIRST STATION OF METRO LINE M4 IS COMPLETED

26 september 2013

The fit-out and systems installation works and the systems integration tests of the Bikás park (Tétényi út) station of Metro Line 4 have ended - the station was handed over by DBR Metro Project Directorate to the operator BKV Zrt. According to plans, the handing-over procedures of stations Újbuda-központ, Szent Gellért tér and Rákóczi tér will begin in September, and subsequently all other worksites. Parallel to the process lasting until March next year, the completion certification procedures are underway in order that the Test in Traffic Operation can begin at the time undertaken, the spring of 2014.

Following the completion of the station structures, contractors had a vast array of tasks to fulfil so that the underground concrete structures became actual stations serving all traffic, operation and safety functions. All fit-out works have been completed, including surfacing, installation of lighting and decorative lighting equipment, the construction of smokeless stairways and escalators, lifts, station furniture, the floor covering, the water-fog extinguishing system, the water pipes and the main ventilation system, and the fixing of the frames of the passenger display units. The systems contractor has put into operation the station inspection, the data transmission systems, the station control equipment, all the power supply and communication equipment, and successfully completed the system integration of the station, i.e. the coordination of the mechanical, fire-extinguishing, power supply and traction systems, in the past weeks.

The last M4 ALSTOM train has also arrived in Budapest, and the so-called White Tests, i.e. the tests of the entire line with the trains without passengers, can begin in October, so as to ensure that all the components of the line and its systems function appropriately and safely. As mentioned earlier, the progress of the fit-out and systems construction works enabled the trains to run along the full line from Kelenföld Railway Station to Keleti Railway Station in July. Since then, the testing of the vehicles is taking place along the whole line. This was one of the most important conditions of ensuring that the technical handing-over procedure, the Test in Traffic Operation, can begin in spring 2014.
